Based in Omaha, Neb., Proxibid provides the auction industry with a turn-key, live Internet bidding alternative for companies of all sizes.

Since the company’s first live online auction in January 2003, Proxibid has provided live auction Webcasts for more than 1,100 auctioneers across the United States.

“Our first live auction Webcast took place in January 2003. We had five clients and hosted seven auctions that month,” said Proxibid co-founder and vice president, Ken Maxwell. “Fast forward to February 2008 and we have more than 1,100 auctioneer customers and we host approximately 450 events online each month. The growth has been overwhelming.”

Proxibid offers two types of online auctions that have personalized account managers providing hands-on marketing assistance.

Proxibid works with auctioneers to bring live Internet bidding to a global online audience.

Live Interactive Webcast Auctions

Proxibid offers a dynamic Internet-based application to deliver a visual representation of on-site auctions to Internet bidders. This allows auction companies to provide Internet bidders with a means of participating in “live” auctions through an Internet-based application.

Internet bidders can observe, communicate and participate in a “live” auction online. With Proxibid’s online bidding application, bidders can participate from live auctions from their home or office, just as if they were at the live auction. Bidders can even pre-bid and leave absentee bids.

Timed Auctions

Proxibid offers timed auctions with extended bidding. Extended bidding during timed auctions ensures that all bidders have the opportunity to bid on and win their item. If a bid is placed during the final five minutes of an auction, the auction is automatically extended five more minutes. This ensures that sniping or bidding at the last second of an auction cannot occur. Additionally, this function levels the playing field for all participants.

For bidders, a timed auction with extended bidding ensures that everyone has the same opportunity to win their item of interest. For auctioneers, a timed auction with extended bidding provides the opportunity to sell an item at a higher price than with other timed auction providers.

Customer Service

Proxibid provides each auction company client with a personal account manager who works with the client throughout the relationship. Proxibid also provides strategic marketing for auction companies, including co-op advertising programs, public relations and collateral generation.

“We at J. J. Kane Auctioneers recognize the Internet as a critical piece of the auction industry. J.J. Kane has chosen to partner with Proxibid as our preferred provider of live auction webcasts,” said Steve Anderson of J. J. Kane Auctioneers.

“Proxibid offers the best service and support in the industry along with a professional staff that is dedicated to making every online event successful. Their commitment to using the most up-to-date technologies has helped us reach a broader audience, in-turn helping our auction business to grow.”

There are hundreds of auctions to choose from each month from more than 60 equipment auctioneers.
