Yancey Bros. Co., the nation’s oldest Cat dealer, has been named the 2015 recipient of the Georgia Family Business of the Year Century Award, honoring a family owned business that is at least 100 years old. Now in its 24th year, the Georgia Family Business of the Year Awards is an annual event hosted by the Cox Family Enterprise Center at Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business. The awards honor family firms who have proven business success, exhibit a strong family/business linkage, with multi-generational family involvement, contribute to industry and community and demonstrate innovative business practices and strategy.

The award recipients are chosen annually by a team from the Cox Family Enterprise Center (CFEC) at Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business, led by Dr. Gaia Marchisio, associate professor and executive director of the CFEC, and Dr. Joseph Astrachan, professor and Wells Fargo eminent scholar chair of family business.

Jim Stephenson, Yancey’s CEO and chairman of the board, along with Trey Googe, Yancey’s president and chief operating officer, accepted the award on behalf of the company at the November 5th ceremony. Yancey Bros. Co., founded in 1914 by brothers Goodloe and Earle Yancey is now in its third generation of family leadership under Jim Stephenson. “We are honored to receive the Century Award from the Cox Family Enterprise and appreciate their recognition of the role family businesses play in Georgia’s economy.
