The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), New York State Chapter Inc. has awarded 16 scholarships for the 2006-07 education year.

Since the Associated General Contractors of New York State Inc. began its scholarship program in 1988, it has awarded $661,000 in scholarships to 291 students who are interested in entering the highway construction industry.

Most of the students awarded a scholarship this year are studying civil engineering, construction technology or construction management either at two- or four-year colleges and universities. Many are repeat winners.

• Daniel T. Borcz of Pendelton, attending Clarkson University, second-time winner;

• Lois A. Carey of Wayland, attending Monroe Community College;

• Nicholas D. Catella of Oneonta, attending University of Notre Dame and continuing his post-graduate studies at Lehigh University, fourth-time winner;

• Bryan R. Comis of Sherrill, attending Princeton University, third-time winner;

• Patrick A. DaSilva of Bronx, attending Clarkson University;

• Gregory T. Duell of Rochester, attending University of Buffalo;

• Gina L. Eaton of McGraw, attending Tompkins-Cortland Community College, second-time winner;

• Dane G. Insogna of Caroga Lake, attending Alfred State College, second-time winner;

• Scott D. Lawler of Ballston Lake, attending Rochester Institute of Technology;

• Ian P. McGuire of Lisbon, attending Clarkson University, second-time winner;

• Christopher A. Modafferi of Vestal, attending Broome Community College;

• Nicholas J. Tomasi of Saratoga Springs, attending Hudson Valley Community College; and

• Justin M. Zuchowski of Warsaw, attending Alfred State College.

Founded in 1926, the New York State Chapter Inc., Associated General Contractors is one of the largest statewide highway construction organizations in New York.
