The American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF) is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Young Executive Development Program (YEDP) to be held May 29 to June 1 in the nation’s capital.

Now in its 17th year, the YEDP introduces young executives to the federal legislative and regulatory processes and how they impact the transportation design and construction industry. It features sessions on highway/transit financing, economics, environmental, regulatory and legal issues, public-private partnerships and industry innovation. The program is held in conjunction with ARTBA’s annual Federal Issues Program (FIP) and Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) Fly-In so that participants have the opportunity to meet with their congressional delegation about pending transportation issues. YEDP fellows also will hear from industry firm CEOs who will share their career experiences and offer their perspective on leadership and business issues.

Participants will come away with valuable knowledge about ARTBA’s role in shaping the transportation policy debate on Capitol Hill, and gain a greater understanding about how they can play a leadership role in helping grow the transportation construction market in the future.

More than 400 young executives from nearly 200 companies, public agencies and state contractor organizations in 40 states and Washington, D.C., have completed the YEDP since its inception.

• Nominees should be under 40 years of age, though exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

• Nominees should have at least three years of experience in the transportation design and construction industry, have made a significant contribution to the work of his or her firm and shown evidence of strong leadership potential for the industry.

• To be considered for admission to the YEDP, candidates must be nominated by a sponsor and submit a completed application form and a 1-to-2 page statement describing his or her reasons for applying.
