Construction Begins on $8M Spinal Cord, Pain Management Facility in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS (AP) Construction is expected to begin in August on a $8 million, 75,000-sq. ft. (6,968 sq m) spinal cord and pain management clinic in Hattiesburg.

When completed, the Lincoln Center for Physicians will be the only clinic of its kind in south Mississippi that offers "one-stop shopping’ for patients needing treatment of neurological problems or pain management, said Dr. David Lee.

Lee, a Hattiesburg neurosurgeon, said the clinic will bring together the doctors and services needed by all patients with neurological disorders or pain management issues.

"Everybody is spread out in different locations,’ Lee said.

Lee said the clinic will include a full-service imaging department including an MRI, CAT scan and X-ray equipment, rehabilitation therapy, a pain management center and psychological services

He said surgeries will be performed at Forrest General Hospital and Wesley Medical Center for the time being. He said in the next four to five years, a spinal surgery center will likely be added to the clinic.

The clinic expects to get approval soon from the state Department of Health.
