George Harms Construction Leader Named UTCA President

Ed Nyland, president of George Harms Construction Company located in Farmingdale, N.J., was inducted as president of the Utility and Transportation Contractors Association (UTCA) at its 42nd Anniversary Convention, which was held Sept. 20 to 23, 2007,, at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

UTCA includes approximately 1,100 member firms active in road, bridge, utility and hazardous waste remediation construction, in the public and private sectors, throughout the metropolitan area.

UTCA’s new president has been active in construction for approximately 35 years. He has served as a member of the UTCA board of directors for approximately 25 years, and this recent induction as president marks his second term in that office. Nyland also serves as a member of the board of directors of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and has served as chairman of that organization’s Contractors Division.
