When the state of Vermont received the go-ahead to begin discussing the logistics of replacing Bridge 8 on US 2, the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) jumped at the opportunity. The historic bridge, which is the state's only vehicular movable bridge, was originally built in 1953 to carry US 2 over Lake Champlain between the towns of North Hero and Grand Isle.

Mammoet has successfully completed the weighing and loading of 60 modules for Cianbro's furnace shipment project at its module manufacturing facility in Brewer, Maine. The modules are destined for a major petrochemicals plant in the United States.

Cianbro announced its acquisition of A/Z Corporation, a Connecticut-based engineering-construction firm providing diverse industry services including design, construction, maintenance and energy management, with a focus on technology-oriented markets.

After less than a year of work, construction crews with Cianbro Corporation are on track to open a temporary drawbridge connecting two islands on Lake Champlain in Vermont. Work on the $60 million project began in July 2018. It involves first constructing the temporary bridge.

In June, Cianbro Equipment rented a Link-Belt LBX 350x4 60 ft. high reach excavator from New Millennium Rentals. The challenge was that the two-story building was out on a pier. Part of the building could be reached from land but none of the equipment could be on the pier due to weight restrictions.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) A replacement for a 76-year-old bridge connecting New Hampshire and Maine opened to traffic on March 30 after months-long delays caused friction between transportation officials and the contractor. The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge replaces an old span that connected Portsmouth, N.H., and Kittery, Maine, along the Route 1 Bypass over the Piscataqua River.

M&T Bank has provided $22.4 million in equipment lease financing for Cianbro Corporation to complete the construction and commissioning of the largest solar producing energy facility in Maine, and within the jurisdiction of ISO New England. The Pittsfield (Maine) Solar Project consists of 40,300 solar panels erected on 57 acres of a 115-acre parcel owned by Cianbro off Route 2 in Pittsfield, Maine.

As part of a much larger undertaking, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is overseeing two key projects that will be completed in advance of the highly publicized Walk Railroad Bridge replacement. The CP243 Interlocking Project and the Danbury Branch Dockyard are independent of the structure replacement over the Norwalk River.

The senior management team at The Cianbro Companies has announced that the organization's Board of Directors has appointed Peter “Andi” Vigue as Chief Executive Officer, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Andi Vigue has also been elected to the Board of Directors of The Cianbro Companies, effective Jan.

PITTSFIELD, Maine (AP) Maine-based construction company Cianbro (shin-BRO) Corp. said it's planning to hire 300 workers in 2018. The company employs 1,350 people in Maine and is looking for new people in jobs and trades needed for large projects in the state.
