Star Wars

Between its new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge land, Pixar Pier and hotel renovations, there's no doubt that Disneyland has been busy building lately. But what's it all costing? Since this time last year, Disney has been issued over $202.6 million in construction permits for its ten most expensive builds, BuildZoom reported.

It seems the force is not only with Luke Skywalker and the Jedi in Star Wars. It may also be within its creator, American filmmaker and entrepreneur George Lucas and his crew on his next megaproject. Lucas is using the power, creativity and magic of modern-day construction to bring the best of his works, including the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, to a scholarly, but fantasy-filled public museum.

Officials recently broke ground on the site of what will soon be George Lucas' Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles' Exposition Park. When construction, which is slated to take about 36 months, is complete, the resulting five-story building will hold narrative art collections, dining facilities, theaters, lecture halls, classrooms and a public research library, Variety reported.

Construction is well underway at the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge lands in both Disneyland and Disney World. Newly released flyover video footage of the 14-acre construction site in Disneyland shows an up-close look at the progress that crews have made on the site so far, including towers, mountains and other facilities that will eventually depict the fictitious planet of Bantuu, Curbed reported.

Construction is well under way at the new Star Wars attraction in Disneyland. Nearmap, an industry provider of high-resolution aerial imagery, recently released a series of photos featuring the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge construction site. The latest addition to the Anaheim, Calif., park is expected to open sometime in 2019.

Star Wars fans will be excited to hear that construction is well underway at Disneyland's new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge feature in Anaheim, Calif., Lake Forest Patch reported. Crews erected a 130-ft. star-shaped steel spire with a crane the week of Aug.

It's not every day you get to see the former temporary home of Star Wars' Millennium Falcon. So when the cast and crew arrived at Malin Head and the iconic spaceship - it propelled the historic area in to the limelight. But now residents have objected to plans to build toilets and extra parking there to accommodate tourists arriving daily at the site.

The holiday season means the force of the crowd is upon Disneyland, so officials decided to help that crowd get around the park more easily by making part of the “Star Wars” land construction zone visible to visitors. For a few days this week, officials opened a temporary pathway in Frontierland, along what used to be called the Big Thunder Trail.

Fantastic design, modeling and construction lead to new lands and amusements at Anaheim's Disneyland Park and California Adventure. When a new land is planned, crews have the task of constructing a themed-village with shops, restaurants rides and attractions.

The website GeekWire is reporting that as Seattle's Alaskan Way Viaduct sat free of cars overhead and drivers attempted to move around the city during the roadway's planned 2-week closure, a new drone video Tuesday showcased again what all the fuss is about.

CHICAGO (AP) - A federal judge has warned Chicago officials that if the court allows construction to start on “Star Wars” creator George Lucas' lakefront museum, it may have to be torn down later if opponents of the project win their civil case.
