Charles R. “Bob” Wood, 78, died peacefully at his home in Charlotte, Vt., on July 7, 2012. Mr. Wood entered the construction equipment industry as a salesman for his uncle’s company, Parker Danner Corp. It is here that Mr. Wood began a lifelong career that became one of his passions. He soon moved to Vermont to work at a local branch office in South Burlington.

His indomitable spirit, along with the encouragement of a few friends, led Mr. Wood to forge out on his own and start his own company, C.R. Wood Corp (CRW Corp.) in 1961. It was here that he made many lifelong friends and “partners.” He became an industry leader that was well known throughout the United States and Canada. In particular, he was very well known in the mobile crane and lifting industry.

Mr. Wood retired from the business in 2006, after selling his “pride and joy” to two of his five children. His homestead on Converse Bay in Charlotte, Vt., was very important to him, as evidenced with the many landscaping projects he designed and managed over the years. His last project being completed just weeks before his death.
