2009 Philly Expo Offers Numerous Seminars

Construction Equipment Guide


The 2009 Philadelphia Construction Expo keeps getting bigger and better as local names in the industry offer learning seminars over the course of the two-day event.

Norris Sales Company

Norris Sales Company Inc., Plymouth Meeting, Pa., and Sicklerville, N.J., will present two seminars. The first is “Trenching and Shoring Competent Person.”

This program will review applicable OSHA regulations. Daily inspection documentation required by the job site competent person will be included. David Orloff, safety director, Norris Sales, will be the presenter on Jan. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Jan. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Norris Sales also will host “Fall Protection Competent Person.” This program will review applicable OSHA regulations. Selection, inspection and proper use of a variety of equipment will be incorporated. Orloff will run this seminar as well on Jan. 27 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Ariston Capital LLC

Ariston Capital LLC, Media, Pa., is offering “Satisfying Your Municipality’s Equipment Needs.” The lecture will help define needs; and find government help in meeting those needs.

This is a one-hour total presentation broken into a 40- minute PowerPoint presentation followed by a 20-minute round table discussion held on Jan. 27 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Zurich Services Corp.

Zurich Services Corp. will present “Hoisting the Curtain Off the New Crane Standard.” This presentation is designed to help companies understand the new OSHA crane regulations and how they apply to individual operations. Bill Davis of Zurich Services Corp. will offer this course on Jan. 27 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Jan. 28 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Asphalt Care Equipment

Asphalt Care Equipment, Bensalem, Pa., will offer three classes: Milling Prep and Procedures; Proper Tacking and Paving; and Dirt and Asphalt Compaction. Each class will be taught by industry professionals with plenty of handouts and a question and answer time.

The 2009 Philadelphia Construction Expo will take place on Jan. 27 and 28 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa.
