BMG Conveyor Services, a member of the Tampa Bay business community since 1970, recently expanded operations and inventory capacity by adding a second location. The new property, which is across the street from the company's headquarters near the Port of Tampa, adds an immediate 23,000 square feet and 4 acres to the company's physical footprint, with space available to double warehouse facilities in the future.

The property acquisition closed in mid-December 2015; by early January 2016 crews were building out the facility for BMG's fabrication department. This included upgrading the electrical system with full 480 volt three-phase power service, upgrading to a 200-ton press brake, and adding a CNC machine. These and other improvements took about 30 days to implement; by early February, work was complete and the new location was fully operational. John Sesta, BMG's Fabrication Department Manager, commented, “No customer should ever be shut down due to a mechanical or fabrication related problem. BMG has the parts customers need and the people to install them, any time. We've made great strides over the years by increasing our inventory and our service capabilities.”

In addition to their new location, BMG added 30% to the size of its existing belt shop, and expanded inventory by 50% to service their customer base. Josh Thomas, BMG's Operations Manager, explained that with the new location, “We've expanded our parts stocking program quite a bit to ensure that our customers have the parts they need in any breakdown situation. We saw a need within our customer base and responded by adding remanufactured Dodge gear reducers, a new line of conveyor belting, v-belts, and sheaves. And we expanded our inventory of Dodge pulleys, and a whole lot more.”

He continued, “The takeaway for customers is that the items they need, BMG has on site and can get to them any time. We ship direct from Tampa, so they won't have to wait for parts and materials to come from out of state anymore. The downtime savings are going to be huge for our customers.”

BMG's President, Stephenie Davis, is also excited about the new location. While BMG is best known for conveyor solutions and components, their capabilities are much broader. “We see to a lot more than just conveyors,” said Stephenie. “Our fabrication department can build almost anything, and has built everything from box folding machines to 270-foot box truss conveyors.” She added, “We love a fabrication challenge and are happy to work with customers on their unique needs. As a solutions provider first and foremost, we're driven to solve our customer's problems to help them become more effective in their businesses.”
