LOS ANGELES (AP) - A celebrity developer is facing misdemeanor charges after allegations that he continued construction on a lavish Bel-Air mansion despite being ordered to stop.

Mohamed Hadid has appeared on reality TV and is known for building mega mansions for exceptionally wealthy clients

The Los Angeles Times reports (http://lat.ms/1jZTd7d ) that building officials in September revoked permits for the 30,000-square-foot, multi-level hilltop house after a man who lives below it said it was destabilizing the slope.

But neighbors complained that construction continued.

Building inspectors also found code violations, like an unapproved, underground Imax theater and guest suites built below a swimming pool.

Attorney Donald Re says there is no evidence of criminal liability on Hadid’s part.

Each of the three misdemeanor charges has a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a $1,000 fine.
