On Nov. 3, King of Prussia Equipment Corp. and MQ-Whiteman hosted a one-day service seminar for Whiteman hydrostatic ride-on power trowels.

The service seminar started at 8 a.m. at King of Prussia Equipment Corp.’s facility in King of Prussia, Pa. Thirteen participants from nine companies consisting of mechanics and finishers based out of Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania attended. The service seminar ended at 3:30 p.m. with a question and answer period.

Ben Wiese, product manager concrete placing and finishing, of MQ-Whiteman and Tommy Tucker, senior field service manager, Multiquip, conducted the seminar. A new MQ-Whiteman model STXD6i hydrostatic ride-on trowel and an older used model STX55y6 hydrostatic were on hand for the seminar.

Specific training on the STXD6i included the new power management features which adjusts hydraulic pump stroke to ensure that unit operates at peak efficiency under all conditions and eliminates engine bogging down under a severe load. An electronic governor delivers only the precise amount of fuel required to meet the engine load, resulting in greater fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs, according to the manufacturer.

Attendees also were educated in the proper maintenance and servicing for all hydrostatic models. Each student received a service binder and a service disc. The service disc included information on how to diagnose, trouble-shoot and set adjustments via a laptop computer to the ride-on trowel itself.

Coffee and donuts were provided by King of Prussia Equipment. Lunch was sponsored by Plate 2000, a manufacturer of trowel blades and pans. MQ-Whiteman provided door prizes for each attendee. A special raffle of miniature hydraulic trowel models were included.
