Construction Equipment Guide

FLSmidth Pekin LLC added three new models to its Raptor cone crusher line: the XL500, XL1300 and XL2000 cone crushers.

The XL500 cone crusher is a 500 hp (373 kW) machine, falling between the XL400 and XL600 in size and capacity. The XL1300 cone crusher, at 1,300 hp (969 kW), has production capacities up to 2,085 tph (1,890 t). The XL2000 cone crusher, a 2,000 hp (1,491 kW) machine, doubles the capacity of FLSmidth’s previous largest crusher, the XL1100 cone, and offers new features to increase overall crushing throughput.

Available in the XL300, XL400, XL500, XL600, XL900, XL1100, XL1300 and XL2000 models, the Raptor high-performance cone crusher is the result of research conducted with the operators in the field. The company gathered input from mining and aggregate operations of all sizes, and integrated the best ideas into the Raptor cone line. From its extra-heavy-duty steel mainframe to its automated control package to the hydraulic tramp release cylinder and clearing system, the Raptor Cone line is designed to keep operators crushing efficiently, day-in and day-out, according to the manufacturer.

XL300 Cone

The design profile of this machine offers maximum productivity and size reduction versatility — not only for stationary applications, but also for wheel-mounted portable crushing plants. This compact unit has a physical height and mass that allow for many options in the design of multi-functional, street-legal portable plants. All XL300 cone crushers feature one-piece cast steel mainframe, with a forged steel main shaft.

XL400 Cone

A solution as a secondary crusher following a jaw crusher, the XL400 Cone produces more usable and salable aggregate per ton processed. A versatile and highly portable machine, this model also accepts primary-crushed material with greater flexibility, due to its large feed opening, high-pivot-point crushing action and wide crushing stroke. With a large head diameter of 52 in. (132 cm), the XL400 can accept feed that is up to 25 percent larger than can be accepted by a crusher with less throw or head diameter, according to the manufacturer.

XL500 Cone

One of FLSmidth’s newest models, this 500 hp machine provides enhanced secondary crushing capabilities. Like the XL400 cone, the XL500 cone handles a large feed and has a wide crushing stroke, producing more material of desired cubicity and gradation. The double-acting tramp release and clearing cylinders ensure the machine stays protected from mechanical overload in the event of an accumulator bladder failure.

XL600 Cone

A cost-effective solution for medium- to high-tonnage mining and aggregate operations, the XL600 cone has a maximum throughput capacity of almost 1,000 tph (907 t) in secondary applications. It can handle feed sizes up to 14 in. (36 cm) and has an active feed opening that creates better end product shape for high production of salable material. The countershaft is integrated into the mainframe arm, creating a stronger frame.

XL900 Cone

Offering both strength and performance, this unit improves throughput and feed size over comparable models in the 700 to 900 hp (521 to 670 kW) range. Production rates for the XL900 cone reach up to 1,400 tph (1,270 t). With its 70-in. (177 cm) head diameter and integral countershaft built into the four-arm mainframe, the XL900 cone is not only large, but is one of the most robust crushers in its size range, according to the manufacturer.

Like all Raptor cone models, the high pivot point and large crushing stroke offer better crushing action throughout the crushing chamber.

XL1100 Cone

One of the largest cone crushers on the market, the XL1100 cone breaks productivity barriers, while its integrated countershaft in the three-arm mainframe delivers durability and provides more open area. Features include a fail-safe hydraulic system, advanced eccentric, spiral-bevel gearing and alloy castings. The XL1100 cone can draw up to 1,200 hp (894 kW).

XL1300 Cone

A 1,300 hp (969 kW) cone crusher with large throw and high pivot point, the XL1300 cone has 30 percent more production capacity than the XL1100 cone, while maintaining the same overall footprint and space constraints of the XL1100. The XL1300 utilizes FLSmidth’s double-acting tramp release and clearing cylinders. By eliminating the need for a socket, this model offers easy access to load-carrying bearings.

XL2000 Cone

The XL2000 cone doubles the capacity of the XL1100 Cone. Like its smaller counterparts, the XL2000 cone contains all of the design and automation features that have set FLSmidth’s machines apart, while offering several new features, including double-acting tramp release and clearing cylinders and easy access to critical load carrying bearings. This direct drive 2,000 hp (1,490 kW) variable speed machine has a significant eccentric throw and high-pivot point crushing action.

Portable Plants

Working with chassis and screen manufacturers, FLSmidth’s engineers can custom-design a portable wheel-mounted plant based on customers’ unique applications. Wheel-mounted plant options include rear discharge and rear feed-side discharge for both the XL300 and XL400 cone. When combined with a horizontal 6 by 20-ft. (1.8 by 6 m) two- or three-deck screen, the XL300 cone can be configured into a closed-circuit crushing and screening plant. The XL300 and XL400 cone crushers can both be configured with two- or three-deck horizontal screens that are 6, 7 or 8 x 20-ft. (1.8, 2 or 2.4 by 6 m) to provide open-circuit crushing and screening plants.
