Patrick Hitpas, department manager of Hoffman International Inc., Piscataway, NJ, recently returned from a two-week stint in the New Orleans area where he was a volunteer of the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina disaster relief effort. He was stationed in Hammond, a small community several miles north of New Orleans.

Hitpas was part of a team, which ran a shelter; one of three in Hammond, that housed and fed approximately 150 people whose homes in Plaquemines Parish — 50 mi. south of New Orleans — were destroyed.
