On Nov. 13, Topcon Positioning Systems Inc. held a Field Day event at Benchmark Tool & Supply's Raleigh, N.C., branch location. The main purpose of the gathering was for customers to learn about Topcon's new X-53x automatic excavator system from the experts themselves.

Benchmark Tool & Supply hosted its third Topcon Roadshow in Mebane, N.C. on Feb. 13 and 14. The Topcon Technology Roadshow is a traveling event throughout the United States that showcases the newest technologies designed to increase efficiency for contractors, engineers, precision farmers and surveyors.

James River Equipment Company and Benchmark Tool & Supply jointly held a skeet shoot customer appreciation event at Drake Landing in Fuquay-Varina, N.C., on Oct. 7. Contractors from eastern North Carolina tested their shooting skills despite the steady rain at the well-attended event.

A major market expansion is underway for Benchmark Tool & Supply, the North Carolina-based equipment distributor known for its high-quality service to the construction, engineering, surveying and agricultural industries. Todd Bennick’s career took a decidedly left turn several years ago — one that has made him a respected member of the construction industry. Bennick owns and operates Bennick Grading in Nebo, located in the mountains of western North Carolina near Marion.

A small-town airport runway needs to be extended to accommodate larger corporate jets. As a result, an existing two-lane road has to be extended around the new airstrip. That means that Sowers Construction Co Inc. has another big project to tackle. Sowers Construction, a family-run business in Mount Airy, N.C., has been given the job of working as a subcontractor on the Holly Springs Road relocation near the Mount Airy-Surry County Airport.

On Dec. 4, Benchmark Tool & Supply held a Millimeter GPS 3D Expo at the Power Curbers factory in Salisbury, N.C. Power Curbers and Topcon Position Systems dealer Benchmark Tool & Supply presented the event. Visitors were able to see firsthand the capabilities of stringless control using Topcon’s Millimeter GPS system on a Power Curbers 5700-C.

On a recent hot summer day at a building site in north Raleigh, excavators and bulldozers were busy working to grade the site for a future Lifetime Fitness location. The health and fitness center is being built to serve the area’s growing number of residential neighborhoodsAt the center of the work was a bevy of equipment operators from Jimmy Lewis & Sons Grading and Septic Tank Services Inc., a 45-year-old company based northwest of Raleigh in the Person County town of Roxboro.
