Construction is nearing the topping out point at 113 West 24th Street, a 39-story Marriott hotel in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. The new structure is designed by New York's Stonehill & Taylor Architects and developed by Lam Generation, itself a Manhattan firm that develops and constructs hotel properties throughout the city.

Foundation work is currently taking shape at 150 West 48th Street, the site of a planned 34-story, 974-room hotel in midtown Manhattan's Times Square. It will rank among the largest hotels to debut in the city this decade when complete. The 300,216-sq.-ft.

Amid the rapidly changing landscape and a recovering Arizona economy, Pacific Hospitality Group and Mortenson recently broke ground on a 238-room, eight-story Hyatt Place hotel in downtown Phoenix. Pacific Hospitality Group, in partnership with Mortenson, is developing the project.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) The owner of Atlantic City's Showboat hotel plans to build a $100 million year-round indoor water park next to it and will break ground in August, he said. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh announced June 18 that it will break ground on a $60 million North Shore hotel later this summer. The seven-story, four-star property will be called The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh and will include 219 guest rooms. The hotel will attach to the existing casino on the east facade, facing the Carnegie Science Center.

A 247-room Holiday Inn Express hotel will break ground in Washington, D.C.'s Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood. Birchington LLC, owned by Habte Sequar, closed on a construction loan from Atlanta-based Stonehill Strategic Capital to commence construction on the $93 million project.

Construction began last March on the new $23 million, seven-story Aloft in Columbus, Ohio, and Welty Building Company Ltd. , which is managing the project, expects to deliver the boutique hotel by September. The developer behind the project is Indus Hotels.
