Construction Equipment Guide

Komatsu America Corp.’s PC35MR-3 compact hydraulic excavator is designed to bring increased production and added operator comfort to contractors in a variety of construction, utility, landscaping and other applications.

The PC35MR-3 is equipped with KOMTRAX technology, which sends machine operating information to a secure Web site utilizing wireless technology. Data such as operating hours, machine location and fuel levels are relayed to the web application for analysis. The KOMTRAX fleet monitoring system increases machine availability, reduces the risk of machine theft and provides a wealth of other information to drive business efficiency.

Operator Comfort

For operator comfort, the PC35MR-3 allows easy entry and egress due to the wide entrance and well placed handholds. A fully adjustable suspension seat with retractable seatbelt lessens fatigue, and pilot proportional joystick controls with wrist rests permit continuous, comfortable operation.

Productivity

The PC35MR-3 is a member of the minimum swing radius (MR) family of compact excavators. This enables the operator to focus on the work in front and worry less about rear swing impacts in confined areas.

The PC35MR-3 has an operating weight of 7,909 lb. (3,587 kg), and features a maximum dig depth of 11 ft. 4 in. (3.4 m). The standard thumb mounting bracket and auxiliary hydraulics simplify hydraulic thumb installation enhancing the machine’s capability and versatility, according to the manufacturer.

The optional power angle (PA) blade allows the operator to angle the blade 25 degrees to the right or left, increasing the excavator’s productivity; this is especially useful when backfilling trenches, according to the manufacturer.

Power

The PC35MR-3 gets its power from a Komatsu engine with a net horsepower of 28.9 hp (21.5 kW). The direct injection engine meets EPA emissions requirements and is fuel efficient without sacrificing power or efficiency. The X-track frame deters the build-up of dirt and debris saving the operator valuable time when cleaning the machine. The single, large diameter swing pin ensures long life and durability of the boom swing mechanism.

Service and Maintenance

The operator compartment tilts up for providing access to the hydraulic components and the back of the engine (starter/alternator). The wide opening engine cover and side covers provide outstanding access to daily checkpoints. In addition, the radiator and oil cooler are side by side making them easy to inspect and clean, and it ensures that only the cleanest freshest air reaches each component. Extended greasing and service intervals make it easier to schedule maintenance.
