Construction Equipment Guide

Things have been very challenging in the construction equipment industry over the past few years. But through a combination of hirings and promotions, Mike Liptak, president and COO of Highway Equipment & Supply and Keystone Processing in Ephrata, Pa., said his companies are positioned, more than ever to serve its customers.

“We are ready to serve our customers in three phases: sales, service and good old-fashioned relationship building, and we are very strong despite all the economic setbacks. We have prepared ourselves to provide good service to both Highway Equipment & Supply’s and Keystone Processing’s customers,” Liptak said.

Company Growth

In recent years Highway Equipment has experienced positive growth, including the opening of the Brownstown, Pa., location, and the acquisition of a VCES location from Volvo Construction Equipment.

The company also is seeing growth in Lock Haven, Pa.

“We are seeing signs of life and light at the end of the tunnel. More sales people are quoting more equipment that indicates that things should be picking up soon. It won’t be a robust year but it will be much better than last year,” Liptak said.

A gradual increase will be good for all in the industry, said Liptak.

“If things pick up too quickly the manufactures will have a hard time getting us equipment,” he said.

Highway Equipment, Keystone Personnel

Todd Weikel, regional sales manager of Keystone Processing, is a fairly recent addition to the team.

“We are pleased to have [Todd] on board with us particularly because he has extensive experience in the aggregate industry. His knowledge and expertise has been a real asset to Keystone, especially with the new alignment and location change of Keystone’s office,” Liptak said.

“Todd has a lot of contacts in the industry and he has opened up avenues of business that we have not had business with in the past.”

Jason Bissol has been promoted to Bobcat sales specialist for the Drums Bobcat sales region. Bissol has been at Highway Equipment for 10 years as a product support representative.

Janet Wenner has been appointed full-time to sales administrative assistant for the Drums facility. Wenner joined Highway Equipment in August 2007, working part-time assisting in different departments.

Pagano has been with Highway Equipment for nine years.
