Construction Equipment Guide

The Raptor XL1100 cone crusher, from FLSmidth Pekin LLC can draw up to 1,200 hp (894 kW), delivering production capabilities of up to 2,240 tph (2,000 t) at a 1-1/3-in. (3.3 cm) closed-side setting. Ideal for high-tonnage mining operations, the unit handles feed size up to 24 in. (62 cm) and allows a reduction ratio of up to 6:4.

The Raptor XL1100 cone crusher incorporates a heavy-duty hydraulic design that improves the durability of the tramp release components, while reducing the number of accumulators required. This hydraulic configuration reduces ongoing maintenance costs while delivering performance and reliability, according to the manufacturer.

FLSmidth’s “fail safe” hydraulic protection system also provides an external relief that prevents severe structural overloads if an accumulator bladder should fail — protecting both the hydraulic system and the crusher. Advanced overload sensing technology detects crushing force overload. A simple alarm is activated, or the system can be automated to take corrective action. This same advanced automation system can be used to optimize crusher performance, with feed control, setting adjustment and monitoring of all critical lubrication and hydraulic parameters.

Powered by a 1,000 hp (745 kW) motor, the XL1100 cone is designed to operate and remain mechanically sound at a wide range of eccentric speeds. Because of this versatility, the eccentric speed can be selected to maximize throughput, size reduction and product yield.

Eccentric surface finish is critical to bearing longevity under high-performance crushing conditions, and the XL1100 cone’s advanced eccentric is a nodular iron casting of high-strength material with machinability and surface finish characteristics. The Raptor XL1100 cone has an alloyed cast steel three-arm frame with one oversized arm used for the countershaft cartridge.

The Raptor XL1100 cone crusher employs spiral-bevel gear technology for a combination of durability and reliability while minimizing gear noise. Available with shorthead or standard bowls, the XL1100 cone is practical for secondary, tertiary and quaternary applications. An additional safety feature standard on all Raptor models is the counterclockwise rotation crushing action that protects the machine if adjustment ring movement is excessive or if the ring gear brake fails, according to the manufacturer.

The growing family of Raptor high-performance cone crushers includes the XL300, XL400, XL500, XL600, XL900, XL1100, XL1300 and XL2000.
