The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced in early October that contractors would begin the next phase of construction to replace the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad track in Macon. The tracks beneath College Street required a full closure of the street from just south of Appleton Avenue to just south of the College Street spur beginning Oct.

State and local officials say construction will soon begin in Chattanooga, Tenn., on another multi-million-dollar modification project on Interstate 24.
