The AGC of Minnesota Foundation held its 2020 Sporting Clays Fundraiser on Sept. 16 at the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club in Prior Lake, Minn. Money raised through registration, silent auction, BINGO and raffles benefits annual scholarships to higher education students pursuing construction careers.

In just a matter of one year when cranes began to loom over the original 35W bridge crossing over the Minnesota River, regular commuters are now seeing real progress on its replacement. Connecting the cities of Bloomington and Burnsville just south of Minneapolis, traffic crews recently switched all six lanes from the old bridge to the new, northbound bridge.

RMS Rentals had a great turn out of customers and retired employees to help celebrate its 20 years in the general equipment rental business. Guests enjoyed BBQ pork and chicken sandwiches, provided by JJ Bunn and his crew. The food was fantastic as always.

The 2019 Paving Expo was once again a success. The annual event hosted April 9, by RMS Rentals in Savage, Minn., was well attended by a number of contractors from the metro area. LeeBoy, Roadtec, Wacker Neuson and Gradall equipment were featured with In-the-Iron product presentations held throughout the day.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation's (MnDOT) $239 million, multi-year 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown project reached its first year of construction in July as crews from a joint-venture, consisting of Ames Construction, Lunda Contracting Co.

For 25 years, Jeff Widdop worked in commercial banking. During that time, he developed a diverse group of clients. One, however, piqued his interest for years: Rob Markman, President of Markman Peat Corp. in LeClaire, Iowa. “I always used to tell Rob that if he was ready to get out of the business, I would happily take it over,” recalled Jeff.

RMS Road Machinery & Supplies Co. held a RMS Rentals Paving Expo on March 27 at its location in Savage, Minn. Attendees took advantage of special buying incentives and had the opportunity to meet factory representatives, participate in product demonstrations and attend manufacturer workshops.

Extreme Sandbox hosted the RMS Road Machinery & Supplies Co. iMC Demo Day event on March 23 in Hastings, Minn. On display and available for demonstrations were Komatsu machines equipped with intelligent machine control. Intelligent machine control is based on Komatsu's sensor package, including stroke sensing hydraulic cylinders, an IMU sensor, and GNSS antennae.

Guests had the opportunity to take advantage of special buying incentives, meet factory representatives and participate in product demonstrations. Manufacturers represented at the event included LeeBoy, Roadtec, Wacker Neuson, Edco and Chicago Pneumatic.
