Five Star Equipment just completed its first John Deere 524L wheel loader sale to Ridgebury Township of Bradford County, PA. The 524L is a part of John Deere's brand new 50th anniversary wheel loader line. The L-Series introduces many new features, including bucket shake, fully programmable electro-hydraulic (EH) joystick controls, a redesigned boom for more visibility and a redesigned cab and seat to provide comfort and ease of operation.

Bill Farrell, CEO of Five Star Equipment, announced the opening of the company's new facility in Orchard Park, N.Y., as well as the completion of the remodeling of its branch in Dunmore, Pa. The brand new facility in Orchard Park opened for business in mid-January following a year of construction.

As part of an ongoing effort to ensure sustainable, profitable growth, Five Star Equipment has created the new positions of corporate sales manager and forestry and key accounts manager. Both positions have been filled through employee promotions. Brian McGuire has been named the forestry and key accounts manager.

Bill Farrell, CEO of Five Star Equipment headquartered in Dunmore, Pa., announces the following new hires and promotions. Tim Hunt has been hired as the general manager of the Syracuse, N.Y., branch. Hunt joins Five Star from the town of Cazenovia, where he served as highway superintendent since 2007.

Five Star Equipment, headquartered in Dunmore, Pa., is now an OEM dealer of Topcon Grade Control technology for John Deere crawler dozers and motorgraders. Customers are now able to purchase or rent John Deere machines with Topcon 2D Laser and 3D GPS systems directly from their local Five Star Equipment branch.

Five Star Equipment recently hosted Dolomite Products of Walworth, N.Y., at the John Deere Davenport Works Gold Key Tour in Davenport, Iowa. Dolomite Products is the first Five Star Equipment customer to purchase the John Deere 944K hybrid wheel loader, the largest wheel loader in the Deere fleet.

Scotts Miracle-Gro recently took delivery of and received training on an ALLU transformer material processing attachment at its brand new Riga, N.Y., facility. The company purchased the ALLU DH-4-23-40 attachment for its 20-ton (18 t) wheel loader to screen, crush, mix and load materials in one step during the production of mulch, topsoil, manufactured soil, soil starter and potting mix.

Five Star Equipment Inc. is augmenting its line of purpose-built, heavy-duty equipment with the mulching-industry leader, Fecon. Fecon manufactures durable, cutting-edge equipment that fits a wide range of applications for vegetation-management, environmental, oil and gas, and construction.

The 2011 NYS AGC Golf Scholarship outing was held June 21, 2011, at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino, Verona, N.Y., on the Shenandoah and Kaluhyat golf courses. This golf course also is a stop on the PGA Tour. This event, which was established by the NYS AGC in 1988, raises funds to support the NYS AGC scholarship fund.

G&H Service Inc. will be closing its retail business on Oct. 31. The dealership, located at 121B Water St., on Route 206 North in Newton, N.J., will be selling its excess equipment inventory during a Ritchie Bros. auction Oct. 19 in North East, Md.
