The Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP) invites members to its 2020 Golf Outing, Sept. 17, 2020. The event will once again take place at WeaverRidge Golf Club in Peoria, Ill., and Coyote Creek Golf Club in Bartonville, Ill. Registration is now open.

The Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP) held its 52nd Annual Convention and Aggregate Miner Safety Conference in Springfield, Ill., in early March. One of the highlights was the presentation of the IAAP awards. A partial list of this year's winners includes Hanson Material Services; Thelan Sand and Gravel; LaFargeHolcoim; and Melvin Johnson of Dyno Nobel Inc.

The Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers' 52nd Annual Convention combined with the Aggregate Miner Safety Conference was held in Springfield, Ill., March 4 to 5, 2020, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The first day was capped by an opening reception, which offered more time for convention attendees to visit the expo and network with others and participate in a live auction to benefit IAAP's political action committee.

The Illinois aggregates industry has reasons to celebrate as we close out 2019. This was the year we finally passed a sustainably-funded state capital construction program — the largest in Illinois' history. As a direct result of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, IDOT has released its new six-year road and bridge plan which shows the state will invest more than twice as much in road and bridge improvements over the next six years compared to last year's six-year plan.

A beautiful day welcomed 166 golfers to the Sept. 9 Golf Outing held at WeaverRidge and Coyote Creek golf clubs in Peoria, Ill. Due to the strong support of everyone attending, this outing raised $9,960 for the IAAP Political Action Committee. PIE Committee members sold 50/50 raffle tickets raising $1,010 for the IAAP's Rocks, Minerals and Mining Workshop for Illinois teachers.

Demonstrating a strong commitment to employee safety and health, 33 companies with a total of 111 operations received Rock Solid Safety awards at the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers' (IAAP) annual convention on March 7, 2019, in Springfield, Ill.

The Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP) held its 2019 Convention and Aggregate Miner Safety Conference March 5 to 7 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield, Ill. The three-day agenda was packed with seminars on leadership, basic aggregate principles and, above all, safety issues.

Five Illinois students have been selected to receive IAAP Education Foundation Scholarships for 2019. The recipients were announced at the annual IAAP Convention, which was held in Springfield, Ill., March 5 to 7. The following students will receive scholarships of $2,000 or more: Richard Howser, Southern Illinois University, majoring in mining engineering; Kensington Kissel, Southern Illinois University, majoring in mining engineering; Abigail Knight, Eastern Illinois University, majoring in geology and geography; Joshua Malone, Augustana College, majoring in geology and geography; Madeline Meyer, Joliet Township High School, who will choose a university soon and plans to study environmental science or engineering.

The IAAP legislative initiative to extend the sales tax exemption on mining equipment, HB 4415, was signed into law by Governor Rauner on June 29. The exemption, which was scheduled to sunset in August of this year, has now been extended until July 1, 2023.
