Pointfuse Limited and Leica Geosystems, a Hexagon company, announced the start of a global cooperation and development agreement that streamlines the use of reality capture in established digital construction, space management and visualization workflows.

Binder Equipment Technology is a relatively new firm that represents the Leica Geosystems product. The company was incorporated in December 2018, but fully went into business effective mid-January. Leica is a more than 150-year-old company that specializes in Swiss-based manufacturing of different types of metrology equipment over various disciplines in the medical field, mining and construction.

As the third generation in his family's construction business, Corey Metts grew up on the seat of a dozer. “There are not many jobs where you wake every morning and get to go play with tractors.,” Metts said. “It's really the only thing I've ever known.” Metts Construction, out of Chapin, S.C., operates in the Midlands area of the state.

Engcon has joined with Kobelco Construction Machinery and Leica Geosystems to provide an automatic height and tilt function on its Kobelco tiltrotators. Engcon is a leading manufacturer of tiltrotators — a kind of tilting and rotating quick coupler for excavators.

Leica Geosystems has introduced the DISTO X3 and X4 distance meters for construction sites. The new laser distance meters withstand drop tests from a height of 6.5 ft. (2 m), are dust- and water-protected (IP 65) and therefore suitable for rugged job site conditions.

Leica Geosystems, an industry leader of measurement technology, announced the Leica ScanStation P50 3D laser scanner as the newest member of the 3D terrestrial laser scanner P-Series. The ScanStation P50 combines all the well-known features of the P40 plus a longer-range scanning capability of more than .6 mi.
