Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded 32 construction contracts for statewide transportation projects totaling $58,534,346. The largest single awarded investment, worth approximately $6.3 million, was awarded to Oxford Construction Company to construct 0.578 mi.

A little more than three years into a projected eight-year interchange project in Macon, the contractor can't seem to buy a break. Environmental issues, flooding and unmarked utilities have added at least a year and a half to the project to improve the I-16/I-75 interchange.

The collapse of the I-75 South bridge over I-24 West in Chattanooga April 1 proved to be anything but a funny April Fool's Day prank to motorists and the Tennessee DOT. All lanes at the busy interchange of I-75 and I-24 closed for several hours after the failure, stopping traffic in all directions throughout most of the day.

The first of the Georgia Department of Transportation's 11 Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP) projects, the $135 million-plus design-build widening of I-85, is being constructed by C.W. Matthews Contracting Company (CWM) Inc. to reduce congestion on the heavily traveled highway in Metro Atlanta.

Last November the C.W. Matthews Contracting Company Inc. began work on the multi-year, $51,173,350 widening and reconstruction of State Route 92, a Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) project that begins at Malone Road in Douglas County and goes north to Nebo Road in Paulding County.

Yancey Bros. Co. hosted more than 200 attendees at its open house event, which officially kicked off the grand opening of its newest Yancey Rents CAT Rental Store on Nov. 3 in Kennesaw, Ga. Representatives from Yancey and from Cat, as well as suppliers of rental machines from Makita, Wacker Neuson, Husqvarna, Vermeer, Genie, Allen Engineering and others came out to support the event.
