By the Time They Got to Woodstock …
Pine Bush Equipment played an integral role in the iconic and historic music festival that became known as Woodstock.
In 1969, Ted Boniface, with the help of Warren DeHaven, provided Woodstock organizers with approximately $157,000 of equipment, including dozers, generators, forklifts and other items, that helped prepare the site (actually held in nearby Bethel, N.Y.) with temporary roads and stage and hardware setup. The Woodstock account became so important and lucrative that Boniface wound up living at the site in a pop-up camper for the most of the event because the company had become such a major supplier to the show.
But for a short time, it appeared things weren’t going to end well between Pine Bush Equipment and Woodstock. Organizers had run out of funds and checks written out to Pine Bush Equipment began bouncing. Boniface, who had begun to establish a good business relationship with Woodstock organizers, stayed patient, and eventually, two months later, all bills were paid in full. Woodstock became Pine Bush Equipment’s largest account for that year.
